How writers are vetted
Every applicant submits a writing sample under blind grading, where the desk lead scores the sample without seeing the applicant's stated credentials first. Statistics, data-analysis and STEM applicants also sit a subject test covering the software and methods those orders require. Applicants who pass are asked to verify claimed credentials — a degree, transcript or professional certification — before they are added to the active pool.
New writers complete a trial order that the lead editor grades against the same rubric used for live orders, before they are allowed to take client work. After that, delivered work is spot-checked on an ongoing basis: a share of every desk's completed orders is reviewed by the lead editor for brief-match, citation accuracy and originality, independent of the report that ships with your order.
